Scott Base, Antarctica

An unknown disease struck the over winter scientists and crew. The project was to identify what was wrong and recommend an action. Water and air samples led to the identification of an organism very similar to Legionella. Recommendations were also made for the discharge of heat into the pristine McMurdo Bay and a local environmental impact assessment was completed. An ongoing inspection routine was set up.
